On 3rd May 2007, A number of L. S. Lowry paintings were stolen from the Aird family.
The paintings were subsequently recovered in July 2011.
BBC Crimewatch broadcast a reconstruction of the robbery at the time.
The Aird family do not now keep any original Lowry's at their home
This painting was once owned by the late Sir Alec Guiness C. H., CBE and then by Ivan Aird for 20 years. This short video gives a fascinating insight to the scene depicted in the 1954 painting.
